GUEST BLOGGER: NICK MAGLIO
My favorite Mickey Mouse cartoon is “The Brave Little Tailor”. Released in 1938, this was one of the last of the old, and in my opinion, best, Mickey cartoons, before his retooling for “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”. To me, this is Mickey’s finest hour. If you haven’t seen it, it can be found on the Walt Disney Treasures: Mickey Mouse in Living Color DVD set.
I have quite a few Mickey as The Brave Little Tailor collectibles. I picked these two musical figures up while working at a Disney Store in the mid 90’s.
Mickey didn’t battle the giant for 6 million golden pazoozas. He did it for the hand of Princess Minnie!
Wind her up and Minnie plays “Someday My Prince Will Come”
The killer of seven with one blow, Tailor Mickey:
Mickey plays “When You Wish Upon a Star”
And they lived happily ever after!
I am familiar with a Donald figure, if it's the one I'm thinking of, there is one on eBay for sale for $39.99 at this moment, I've never seen the Fairy Godmother. I have looked into the Mickey and Minnie in the past, and the prices range wildly, from $40 for the pair to, as of right now, also on eBay, $99 just for Mickey.
I have these two as well as the Donald Duck one which plays Duck Tales and The Fairy Godmother (non-musical). Does anyone know what their value is?
I also have these figurines, I love them so much. I was looking online for other characters, just curious if they existed and I found your blog. Glad to know you love them as much as I do.
Thank you thilker and Gaylin. Lee, I'm only here to do research for the blog, I'm not really having fun at all! 😉
Thanks for your comments thilker and Gaylin! They ARE too cute for their own good.
Nick will probably thank you too IF he can spare the time from his fun at WDW where he is RIGHT NOW! It's a good thing I don't get jealous easily.
I 'heart' these. Awesomely cute on their own, but they play music as well.
Too cool
