If you grew up watching Disney cartoons in the mid to late 1990’s, no doubt you’ve heard of The Disney Afternoon. This was a time when you could watch one Disney-themed property after another until your Mom said “Enough! Go outside and play!” During this time, unknown to the unsuspecting children, Disney had partnered with Kellogg’s to cross-promote. Later, a multi-year global relationship between these two titans of industry would be formed in 2002 introducing several new cereal and snack food products to the consumables market.
And it was because of this partnership that the little guy featured in this post came to be. And he looks pretty happy about it:
This particular giveaway, found in specially marked boxes of Kellogg’s cereal, was released in 2008 to promote the Disney Parks – What Will You Celebrate? event scheduled to begin in 2009.

Here is an excerpt from the official Disney announcement for this promotion: “Everyone who visits a Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort theme park on their birthday in 2009 can get in free, as Disney Parks embraces a newly identified family travel trend called “celebration vacations”. In this new national trend, Canadian families are hitting the road to mark life’s special occasions – birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, reunions and more – with a “celebration vacation”. In 2009, Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts will lead this growing trend with new entertainment and services that allow guests to turn their personal milestones into magical Disney experiences.” Got all of that? Good!
My mother took advantage of this promotion and got into Epcot for free on her birthday in January of 2009:
So what did YOU celebrate? After all, the 37th Anniversary of Walt Disney World was a big thing… wasn’t it? Or were we celebrating Disneyland’s 54th Anniversary? I’m just not sure…

What better way to celebrate a BIG event than with an incredibly small Mickey plush? Yes, at just 4″ tall, this stuffie is definitely huge in cuteness, but fits perfectly in the family sized cereal boxes destined to sit in your cupboard!
Well, whatever it was we were supposed to be celebrating, it was nice to find this adorable Mickey plush in our breakfast cereal.
Can’t get enough celebrating? Me neither! So join me in checking out something from an actual Anniversary, Disneyland’s 50th, by clicking the link.
