Disney Infinity Edition 1.0 / 2.0 / 3.0 are no more. We got this gaming platform for only three years before Disney let its greed run it into the ground. By requiring you to buy a new gaming base each year to enable play with new character releases, the Mighty Mouse lost customer faith and support and threw away a truly great Universe. Typical Disney in the modern era!
The only good thing to come out of this debacle was the interactive gaming figures. They are superbly sculpted and make wonderful display pieces. I have far too many, as is my curse with Disney collectibles, but the one being featured today is the Finding Dory Play Set:
I picked this up at a Dollar Store for only $4.00 CAN so I couldn’t really lose. Let’s have a closer look into the Great Big Blue and meet the gal of the moment before we all forget why we’re here:
The level of detail on these figures is astounding! And the style of the sculpt is truly unique.
What were we talking about again?
My wife and I were at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood for the launch of the Disney Infinity gaming system. We had media passes, were able to interview one of the creators of the platform, and even saw John Lasseter live! And there was free food. So the game is gone, but they can’t take my memories of a fun event away from me.
The demise of Disney Infinity made my list of the Top 5 Worst Decisions Made by Disney. Please give it a read and see if you agree with my placing of it in the ranking!
